Jim Mason 73, a resident of Commerce City, Colorado passed away on August 22,2018 at St Joseph Medical Center in Denver.  Jim was born in Ault, Colorado and spent much of his growing years in Estes Park, Colorado. He was the youngest son of Grace and Asa Mason Jr (deceased).   His older brother Jerry Lee Mason passed away in July of 2017.

Jim is survived by Flo Goffinsk her children, their beloved dogs Thor, Angel and Millie and a cousin Ronald D. Graham all from the Denver area.

Jim’s years in Estes Park were spent helping his father with his contracting business. Many of these buildings are still in use to this day.   Later Jim and his father Asa moved to Fort Collins rather taking care of each other.  Jim enjoyed reminiscing about the wonderful trip he and his dad took to Australia.

Being a truck driver Jim had traveled roads throughout the United States and Canada and readily shared his adventures delivering goods. Even after retirement he delivered cars and trucks to the local dealerships as he always seemed drawn to the road.    It was interesting to hear him share how much some of the vehicle’s cost, and as our family always had pick-up trucks were astounded when he shared that he had delivered at truck that cost almost $100,000.

Jim thoroughly enjoyed his early morning coffee with friends at the local truck stop.  He and Flo enjoyed eating out and spending time with their pets.   Jim will be greatly missed by his buddy Thor along with his family.   Services will be held Thursday   September 6th 10:00 AM at Horan-McConaty Mortuary; Colorado Blvd and Mississippi (1091 South Colorado Blvd.) Denver.    Contributions in Jim’s name are welcomed to the Denver Dumb Friends League.

William J Kirk jr., age 47, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 9th, 2018. Wil is survived by the love of his life Michelle, children Anna Kirk, Erin Reisenan, Andrew (Brachelle) Candelaria(step), Amanda(Randy) Roedema(step), Ian(Myriah) Candelaria(step) and 7 grandchildren Juls, Reyce, Jasiahs, Asaari, Logan, Kai, and Maddox. Wil was an intelligent, tech savvy, and smart witted man. You would often see him with a his face in a laptop, trying to unravel the web of messes one of his family members created. When he was finished he handed back the newly revived computer with a "see you in near future" look. Like any other computer nerd, Wil loved Mountain Dew and video games, but if you asked him what he loved most in the world, without hesitation he would say "my grandkids!" And boy, did his grandkids love him. Wil would enter the room last and be bombarded by little hugs, kisses and "gwampsy" calls. Those little one wouldn't break concentration until they got their gwampsy Wil's time. Wil loved his daughters Anna and Erin, and was very proud knowing the fact he had strong girls with the same quick witted comebacks just like thier dad. Though he did not get to see them everyday, he would talk about them constantly.  Wil was afflicted with severe back pain for good portion of his adult life, but that didn't stop him from picking up each one of his grandkids. Even if the next day he was stuck in bed. To Wil it was worth the pain. Will was not a religious person growing up, but in 2017 he found God and elected to be baptized. Will made sure to pray for his family's protection and good health. Wil's calm, quiet demeanor with a hefty side of witty commentary was infectious. It would keep people hooked to his stories and what he was going to say next. Wil we love you, Until we meet again, you will be greatly missed.

Marie Louise Reynolds, née Klancic, passed September 11th, 2018 at the age of 89. Preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Anna (Meusel) Klancic, and brothers Robert and Paul.

Marie was born November 24th 1928 in Chicago, Illinois and was proud to be the first U.S. born Klancic in the family tree. She contracted polio at an early age, and attended a middle school for handicapped children. With the love and support of an amazing mother she graduated from Lakeview High School in 1947. She moved to California to leave the Chicago winters which were difficult for her as she dealt with the residual effects of polio as she got older. She spent many years in Los Angeles before eventually retiring in Arizona. She lived on her own until she was 84 years old. In her last years she moved to Colorado to be closer to family.

She was an artist and a lover of the fine arts. She also loved animals, especially Charlie her pet cockatiel of whom she said "keeps me from talking to myself so much". For many years she volunteered for recording audio for the Blind and Dyslexic. She was a loving and independent person, who was always willing to listen and offer advice.

"Marlise" is survived by her cousin Sue Jansen, "Aunt Louise" or "AZ Auntie" by her Klancic nieces and nephews: Mark, Chris, Tony, Lee (Hoekstra), Judy (Waddick), Joy, Jill and Scott, and "Chocolate Auntie" by 13 grandnieces and grandnephews. She will be dearly missed, but those who loved her are comforted knowing that she was welcomed to heaven and into the arms of her family - whom she missed so much.

Donald Dean Seymour, 84

Don was a lifetime resident of Englewood, Colorado.  Born in 1934, he attended Englewood public schools, and graduated from Englewood High School in 1952.

Don was a life-long Boy Scout, from Cub Scout through Eagle Scout, and was awarded the Silver Beaver for his service to the Denver Area Council.  Don was a member of The Order of the Arrow where he received the Vigil Honor and, during the OA’s centennial year in 2015, received the Centurion Award.

Don served in the United States Air Force for 4 years, 2 of those spent living in Tokyo as a translator between the Japanese telephone company and the Far East Air Force.

Don had a 35-year career with the telephone company (Mountain Bell/USWest/Qwest/CenturyLink), beginning right out of high school as a phone installer, working his way up to the engineering department, and ultimately working as a right-of-way agent for the company.  Don earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business while working full-time.

After retirement, Don achieved a 2nd BA in Fine Arts, and applied that knowledge while teaching students at Metro State College in the woodworking and metal shops.  Don also put his creativity and artistic skills to work for over 20 years to produce innumerable working props and sets for the Englewood High School theater department and the City of Englewood summer theater program.  Post-retirement employment also included working for the Colorado State Historical Society as a mount maker and exhibits preparator.

Don was a retired Englewood Volunteer Fireman achieving the rank of Deputy Chief; he sat on the ethics board of Swedish hospital; and he was a voting member of the Board of Adjustments and Appeals for the City of Englewood for more than 25 years.

Don’s parents were founding members of Mayflower Church in Englewood, and he was an active member there until the end of his life.  Over the years Don and his wife Marilyn enjoyed sponsoring many scholarships so that Mayflower’s kids could enjoy camp at La Foret church camp.

Don was a camper at La Foret church camp in his youth.  Don returned there in his late 60s, attending Contemplative Camp every summer for many years.  For his 70th birthday he designed, financed, and directed the construction of the beautiful labyrinth that campers and visitors to the site enjoy today, and will continue to enjoy for years to come.

Don was a founding member of the Tahosa Alumni Association – a group of former campers and camp staff who were concerned for the future of the beautiful Boulder County Boy Scout camp of their youth, Camp Tahosa.  Initially founded as a social organization in the 1960s, it became their mission in the early 1980s to save the camp from the wrecking ball.  Camp Tahosa stands today as a shining jewel in the Colorado Boy Scout camping experience crown.

Don enjoyed his 5-decade role as Santa Claus throughout the Denver metro area and State of Colorado for the City of Englewood, Colorado State Patrol, The Denver Broncos, Mountain Bell, and hundreds of friends and family members.  While at the telephone company, Don also enjoyed clowning around with the BellTel Clowneers.

Don’s hobbies included bonsai, jewelry making, photography, travel, and woodworking, and gathering knowledge.

Don is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn; his son Dana (Julie); his daughter Diane; his son David (Anna); and 2 grandsons, Dima and Daniel.

A celebration of Don’s life will be held at Mayflower Congregational Church, 3001 S. Acoma St., in Englewood on Saturday, September 29, 2018.

In lieu of flowers, you may show your appreciation for Don’s life by making a donation to either The Denver Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, at denverboyscouts.org (see “Ways to Give”) or to Camp LaForet Conference and Retreat Center at laforet.org (see “Click Here to Donate”).
